Meryvn Warren, Mark Kibble, and Claude V. McKnight III are legends in the field of Acapella Jazz, but unless you’re an alumni of Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, you’re probably not aware of the treasured gem that is A Special Blend. Though out of print for several years, Breath Of Life Records is proud to present the re-release of “Nowhere But Up” featuring a brand new composition by Mr. Warren called “Remembering”. Prior to forming the multiple Grammy winning vocal ensemble Take6, Mervyn flexed his musical genius by joining his future bandmates with Joya Foster and Lori Bryan. The resultant album, “Nowhere But Up” was a fresh take on complex jazz harmony and even caught the ear of Manhattan Transfer’s Janis Siegel who convinced the other member’s of her band to nominate the album for a Grammy! While Mr. Warren has gone on to have a remarkable career in both the music and film industries, we hope that you enjoy a look into his origins as one of the most influential vocal arrangers of his generation.
